A prophetic song which came during the prayer session of the second day of PENSA’s Holy Ghost convention signaled God’s heed to the
cry of the saints gathered for an infilling of the Spirit at the Sarfo Memorial Temple, Ayigya. The song, ‘a carrier of fire is what you are’ was timely and fulfilling as the hungry hearts of people praying immensely suddenly realized God had already made them fire carriers, paving way for many gathered upfront to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
Beginning with surges of prayers, members were stimulated to have yearning for the Spirit which was going to be poured out greatly in the course of the service. During the worship time, the presence of the Lord was so awesome that many couldn’t tell of His wonders on their feet – with kneeling and prostration, people offered their hearts out to God in worship. Later, it was prudent for the King Praise Choir to minister a song to reflect on the semester theme: Draw me close to you. This they did in a manner that also fueled individuals to see the role of the Holy Spirit in this move. The MC throughout the program did not cease to say that he had denied everyone the right to leave the grounds without being transformed. His humorous manners caused people to burst into laughter when he explained the reason for the Apostolic or Pentecostal dance by the elders of the church. He said in times past these elders used to pray under cocoa trees and because their dance were obstructed by the tree roots they couldn’t dance freely and so had to resort to jumping those root in left and right styles as they dance, becoming the norm for many elders of today. But this time we have no obstructions so he urged guys not to feel restricted to dance in all ways that are pleasing to the Lord. The President taking over to introduce the speaker was so optimistic his members wouldn’t leave without an outpouring of the spirit on them. He asked people to register themselves by what they are known to do in the house of God, either by shouting, jumping, clapping or whatever, and doing this generated in the temple, much appreciated noise. ‘Whatever you’re doing in the house of God, do it well’, he said, and that the unction that will fall on people to work in such capacities will project them from a featherweight level to lightweight and from that to heavyweight levels. The functioning will also be by one on a higher level lifting somebody below to the next higher level as he himself moves upwards. These he pointed out prior to his invitation to the speaker, Elder Foster Dotim who came in the company of Deacon Owusu and Elder Anderson. Elder Foster in his opening statements, made mention of his late retired spiritual father, Pastor Nakugya who without any academia, spoke at a National Witness Convention in the Brong Ahafo region boldly in English, a language he had never learnt. He went on to say that the unction is within us, and only if we applied ourselves to it will we function thereof. A tongues blowing session intensely begun afterwards after which he said God is so good to have us exhibit his power in this world. The focus of his message was on Act 1:8 ‘But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you…….’ He did not speak for long but all he wanted to get across was that the power that one is endued with after the coming upon of the Holy Spirit results in excellence, efficiency and productivity in all endeavors. Elder Foster later recounted the story of the manifestation of this power in the life of his lecturer friend during his period of furthering his education. After this friend prayed un-end to secure a place among five scholarship opportunities in the face of about 3000 applicant worldwide, visa acquisition posed a challenge. He never gave up but persisted with speaking in tongues to the hearing of the consular after he had denied him the visa. And miraculously this consular hastily handed him the visa and quickly asked him to leave the office to enable him do his PhD overseas. Among other things the speaker said the unction that the Spirit brings makes our confessions sure and opens all closed doors in our lives. The Spirit's presence was strong and as he spoke with so much vigor the glass pulpit could not stand the energy and had to break in the process as he slapped his hand on it, drawing people’s attention to it. But he was quick to announce that people shouldn’t worry and that the pulpit would be replaced within few days and true to his words, a member moved by the spirit stood up after his sermon to declare his ambition to foot all the bills of the replacement. The Spirit was really in operation that morning. The power packed prayer time that followed was reviving as many were revitalized and received fresh endowment for impact. The prophecy song which came in the process ‘a carrier of fire is what you are’ electrified the atmosphere so much that singing it several times brought relief to the hungry souls present. The President and his executives praying for the baptism of the Holy Spirit saw great manifestation of the Spirit’s infilling in the members. The prayers ended with jubilant praise during which members went round with handshakes among themselves. With the kind of the move of God’s Spirit, people couldn’t have left the temple without been transformed; everybody received a touch from God, in one way or the other. |
